How to price PPV messages: the bundle ladder

Most creators either price too high for a first purchase or sell the same set at higher prices. Here is the ladder our chatters use.

Bundle ladder

One step at a time. Each bundle has more inside than the one before.

Short answer

Start low so a fan gets past the first purchase, then climb a ladder one step at a time, adding more inside every step. We start first purchases at $5–15 and run bundles up a ladder of $16, $27, $36, $48, $69 and $99. A fan only moves up a step after buying the one before, and every bundle is described honestly.

Why the first purchase should be cheap

The hardest sale is the first one. Before it, the fan is deciding whether you are worth paying at all; after it, he is only deciding what to buy next. A low first price is not about the money from that sale. It removes the reason to say no, and it starts a buying habit you can build on.

Starting at $50 for a first message asks a stranger for a big decision before he knows what you deliver. Most fans simply don't open it.

Starting price ranges

These are the ranges we start from before we know your fans. Your own price list, set with you in your persona doc, always wins.

ContentStarting range
First purchase for a new fan$5–15
Standard photos$5–10
Exclusive photos$15–25
Short video (under 2 min)$10–35
Longer video (5+ min)$25–80
Customs (only with your approval)$50–300+

How the bundle ladder works

  1. Open smallThe first bundle is cheap and easy to say yes to. Its job is to create interest.
  2. Climb one step at a timeOffer the next step only after the previous bundle was bought. Skipping steps feels like a jump, not a deal.
  3. Add value every stepMore items or longer videos each time. Never the same content at a higher price.
  4. Describe it honestlySay what is inside. A bundle that disappoints kills every step after it, and can lead to refunds.
  5. Write it downNote which step each fan reached, so whoever is on shift next continues from there.

How to tell if your prices are right

Look at the unlock rate: the share of paid messages that fans actually open. A common rule of thumb in the industry:

Unlock rateWhat it usually means
Under 10%Price or timing is off. Offers arrive before there is a reason to buy.
15–30%Healthy range.
Over 40%Fans open almost everything. The price is probably too low.

These are starting benchmarks, not promises. After the first month we compare against your own numbers, which matter more than any industry average.

Mistakes that cost the most

  • Offers out of nowhere. A paid message should follow from the conversation, not interrupt it.
  • Paid message after paid message. Without a pause, fans stop opening anything.
  • Discounting first. Add value first, like a small bonus. A discount should be the exception, never the habit.
  • Selling again right after a big purchase. A conversation or two without an offer builds the trust that pays for the next one.

Customs need your yes. We never promise a custom, a price or a delivery date you haven't approved. Your price list and limits live in your persona doc.
